Registrations for RSC Day 2020 now open!

We are pleased to bring you once again, the Research Support Community Day 2020, to coincide with the VALA Conference. This day is aimed at anyone involved in research support and services in academic libraries. You don’t have to be working in the area or have experience in delivering services to researchers; we encourage a wide range of perspectives and welcome all, including those new to academic libraries. Sessions will be facilitated by research librarians who actively develop and deliver research services, and there will be plenty of time for discussion.

The program has presentations from a variety of speakers including researchers, librarians, and e-research specialists. There will be opportunities to network and to hear what other Australian research and academic libraries are doing in the research support and services space. Institutional initiatives will be showcased in lightning talks.

Date: Monday, 10 February 2020

Time: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Venue: Deakin Downtown, Level 12, Tower 2, 727 Collins Street, Melbourne Victoria 3008

This event is being hosted by Deakin University Library.

Call for Expressions of Interest: RSC Day 2020

Research Support Community Day 2020 is taking place on Monday 10 February at Deakin University in Melbourne (Deakin Downtown)! This is the same week as the VALA 2020 conference.

The RSC Day committee is now inviting submissions for the following types of sessions:

  • 5-minute lightning talks
  • 10-minute short talks
  • 20-minute talks
  • NEW! 30-minute special interest group meetings: A dedicated timeslot for special interest groups to meet and discuss topics. Your role is to lead the discussion for your proposed interest group.
  • NEW! 4-minute video virtual lightning talks: Your video lightning talk will be played during the lightning talk section of the program. You do not need to attend the RSC Day in person to propose a video virtual lightning talk.

To express your interest in presenting a session, please complete the online form by Friday 1 November. The committee will strive to accommodate as many submissions as possible, with a balance of different topics. However, as time is limited on the day, we may not be able to accept every proposed session for the 2020 program. We’ll contact you about your submission by Monday 11 November.
